Q. What is “Figtree Productions"?
Q. What style of photography do you do?
We get asked this a lot! We combine a limited amount of formal portraits along with a documentary approach, with as little interference as possible in order to capture the true essence of the wedding day. We feel that wedding photography is challenging to photograph. Events have to be captured at a fast pace with no second chances. We feel this requires the skill of at least two experienced photographers. We start the day documenting the dressing/preparation of the bride (only with a female photographer in the room) and continue on through to the reception with as little intrusion as possible. Our combined vision captures all the emotion of your special day; the tears, the laughter, the joyful, poignant moments; to the finest subtleties and details of all the painstaking planning that makes your wedding uniquely yours.
Q. What kind of packages do you offer?
We offer three very distinct multi-leveled choices:
A-la-carte Coverage-Your choice of either a 6 hr , 8 hr or 10 hr day with 2 photographers, all the digital files and no albums included.
Album Package Coverage-3 levels of coverage that include 2 photographers, bridal albums, parent albums, thank you cards, wall portraits, engagements sessions, proofs and negatives.
Album + Video Coverage-3 levels of coverage that include the above , plus our unique documentary video coverage.
Our albums are not produced by a separate sales staff that doesn’t know you or your desires. All our albums are designed exclusively by us so that each album is custom created for you. In addition, we show you a mockup of what the album will look like before it is actually produced, with the opportunity to revise the design. Our pricing is based both on the amount of time we spend on your wedding as well as the particular products that you select. Album pricing begins at a reasonable $895 .
Q. What format will our wedding proofs be?
Our photography provides you with the traditional form of 4x6 paper proofs within a 2-3 week period. We also provide a web gallery for non local member of the family to see your pictures, as well as our unique Editorial DVD. Depending upon the selected coverage you will receive between 350 – 700 final images to review. The proofs that you receive, hundreds of them, are all the images that meet our standard of excellence. We spend an extensive amount of time artistically rendering, color correcting and refining all our images from the proofs to the final album prints. The Editorial DVD is a compilation of the best images set to music, and designed by us.
Q. Do you take black and white as well as color photographs?
Yes, we will give you black & white photographs along with the color, if you want. There is no additional charge for black and white images or sepia images. Once we know what your particular request is we determine the ratio of color verses black and white on an individual basis.
Q. Should I let you know what groups I want to have photographed?
We do encourage our couples to both inform us of specific requests as well as have a family member act as coordinator for these group pictures. Do remember that large numbers of groups take away from the documentation that we strive for. But we also understand how important these family pictures can be in years to come.
Q. What type of equipment do you use?
I always get a chuckle when I hear this question. We have been photographing
weddings for over twenty years. In that period of time we probably have obtained
and used just about every type and size camera to produce our images. We trained
with medium format 2 ¼ Hasselblad equipment for almost 20 years. Over five years ago, we completly switched over to use Canon professional digital cameras and have never looked back since. All these cameras are professional tools that we use to get a
job done.
When some people ask do you feel that digital can give us the quality of film?
We invite these people to come to our studio and study our examples. We have
always used professional cameras and this applies to digital as well. From
a technical point of view digital today has surpassed traditional film. This
is the reason that every manufacturer of film cameras has announced that they
will no longer be developing this technology, and now devote all their resources
to the advancement of digital products only.
Q. How many times do we meet?
Because we feel that personal attention allows for familiarity, we provide a complimentary engagement session that should take place at least a month prior to the wedding. We have found over the years that the couples who have experienced our brand of “friendship” feel more secure on the day of their wedding that they have picked the best team for photographing their special day. We think of it as a "second date" reasoning. Any awkwardness there might have been is eliminated. If you remember the second date you had with your fiancé, you probably understand what I am talking about. Then, about one month before the wedding, we will meet again to discuss the flow of the wedding day in detail. We also have a 5 page pre-information sheet that not only stirs up your thought process in terms of the events of the day but informs us of the particular request and desires both of you as a couple as well as your families require. Of course, we also encourage our couples to feel free to contact us at anytime with questions or concerns.
Q. How much do you charge for all this?
Our pricing is based both on the amount of detail we spend on your wedding as well as the particular products that you select. A-la-carte coverage starts at $2900; album packages start at $4,000; and combined album packages with video coverage start at $6,000. Bridal albums begin at $895.
Q.
How do we reserve your services?
Since Figtree Productions only takes one wedding assignment per day, we do require a signed contract and a deposit/retainer in the amount of 1/3 of your contract to take the “date of the shelf”. We do not reserve dates without a deposit.
